London It's probably a bit of a mystery as to precisely why London in particular seems to draw so much attention from the strange and alien; lacking even the Rift that Cardiff possesses, it nonetheless seems to excel in harboring and attracting innumerable hostile races and beings. This also means that it remains one of the cities most often visited by the Doctor, a habit that has admittedly fluctuated over the last few decades of the Time Lord's life; though he doesn't visit quite as often as he did in his Ninth or Tenth incarnations, he might pop by for a day or two... make sure nobody's trying to burn it down again. |

Cardiff The capitol of Wales, Cardiff was founded over two millenia ago, and over the ensuing eons has hosted a number of interesting guests... including at least two or three Jack Harknesses at the same time. The presence of the Rift, a temporal schism that has both provided a source of temporal energy, and occasionally deposited bits of inanimate and living flotsam from across the universe, is largely responcible for most of those interesting guests, and makes it the natural headquarters for Torchwood. Though the team is forced to operate in even more secrecy than usual, they have nonetheless made this city their home once more. Sub-board: Torchwood |

Ireland Everyone loves the Irish, right? Though one sixth of it is considered a part of the United Kingdom, a majority of the island is actually a sovereign state; with Dublin as the capitol, Ireland has seen relatively little extraterrestrial turmoil, especially considering its neighbor. Nonetheless, the country has fallen in hard times; in the wake of the Miracle, Ireland was forced to declare itself bankrupt, and since then the recovery has been a gradual affair. |

Scotland Scotland has seen more than a few noteworthy events; among them, the founding of Torchwood by Queen Victoria, the much-hidden trade of twelve children to the 456, and several visits from the Doctor in his various incarnations. Overall, Scotland is an excellent place to take a vacation, lift your feet... track down a hostile alien incursion or three... whatever you fancy, really. |

Langley, Virginia Officially, this city already bears the impressive status of housing the Central Intelligence Agency, an organization that is sure to draw plenty of scrutiny to its streets and structures. Despite this, the Institute is hidden within plain sight, with no attempt to find some distant corner of the country to tuck them away in; this fair-sized city actually belongs to a larger community, McLean... but it's unlikely anyone will ever remember that name. Texas The region has often had more than one 'abducted from aliens' tale to share, but aside from that there isn't much about the state that would interest the less 'official' government branches... well, that they know of. Sub-board: The Compound |

Washington D.C. The capitol of the United States, Washington D.C. is a major metropolitain area that has seen its fair share of the unusual, though still not one tenth as much peril as London falls under on a regular basis. The relative lack of such threats has resulted in a somewhat covered-eyes approach to the very concept of extra-terrestrial visitations and especially direct confrontations... ironic, given how much has happened. Though the Institute does have a small, secondary office located here, it's generally only used against threats directly relating to the capitol itself, or when it becomes necessary to report directly to the Director of National Intelligence. |

The Bible Belt Generally consisting of the Southeastern and South-central United States, the term Bible Belt derives from the largely evangelical population, specifically Protestanism, and higher-than-average rates of Christian church attendance, such as Texas, Kansas, and Oklahoma. Over the past six months, the Federal Government has taken an increased interest in current and past claims of alien visitation, especially given how recent events have suggested that some of them might be genuine... it's not terribly uncommon for either federal marshals, or even Institute operatives, to be scouring the area tracking down a potential lead. |

The Northern And Western States Considered slightly more secular than the south, with a colder climate, the northern states border the Great Lakes and Canada above, and include New York, Montana and California among their ranks. |

The Doctor's TARDIS "Well, you see, it's a time machine. Well, no, it's a spaceship. Er, actually, it's a time machine and a spaceship, and on occasion a restful and welcoming home for the weary traveller... all I really ask, if you're thinking to poke about is, please, do not touch the big gleaming console right up there in the center of the platform, because no, if you turn those knobs, you will get neither hot nor cold water, in fact all you'll get are phased engines and a quantum paradox sufficient to tear about four-sevenths of the galaxy apart, capiche? Yes, I might actually be exaggerating that just a little bit, but on the other hand I might not, and do you want to see four-sevenths of the galaxy torn asunder? I thought not. Why does it look like a blue box? Well, why d'you have to find fault with everything, eh?" |

The Planet Earth Throughout its history, Earth's inhabitants have risen from a puddle of organic sludge to one of the galaxy's dominant forces. Throughout its history, it has seen the rise and fall of countless empires, endless wars and drama greater than any playwright or author could put to paper. In many ways, the places and time periods of Earth is a universe all its own, overflowing with sights to see and sounds to hear... |

The Alien Worlds Beyond Countless civilizations and lifeforms have developed over millions of years, living, laughing and ultimately perishing; some, like the Time Lords, have been all but wiped from existence, perhaps never to be seen or heard from again. Others, like the Daleks, have constantly been extinguished, only to return in some new time or place, stronger than ever. But between the clash of titans and vast empires, thousands upon thousands of smaller worlds exist, upon which life takes nearly every possible form. |

The Fourth Great And Bountiful Human Empire Having reached its peak somewhere in the one hundred and ninety ninth millenium onwards, the human race has spread far and wide across the galaxy, with thousands of colonies and trillions of citizens; Earth itself having developed a population of ninety-six billion and five artificial moons to boot. For anyone with some form of time travel, this can be one of the most breathtaking and humbling places to visit... as well as the most dangerous. |

Alternate Realities You can basically go nuts here, playing whatever characters, scenes or situations you want, an excellent way to spend time waiting for someone to answer your plotting thread. You could be the Fourth Doctor meeting the Ninth Doctor in the Eleventh Doctor's TARDIS while using the Tenth Doctor's sonic screwdriver, if that strikes your fancy. |
